Chain Link

Chain link fence in San Diego. Budget-friendly, built to code.

Chain link is still the most cost-effective way to fence a large yard, a dog run, or a commercial perimeter. We install galvanized and vinyl-coated chain link in 9-, 11-, and 6-gauge wire, with proper top-rail and tension-wire installation so the fence stays tight for decades.

What do homeowners ask about Chain Link?

Chain link cost in San Diego?

4-ft galvanized residential runs $18–$24/linear foot installed. 6-ft galvanized runs $26–$32. Black vinyl-coated adds 15–25%. Commercial 6-gauge or 10-ft heights run $42–$65/linear foot. Gates add $200–$550 each.

Galvanized vs vinyl-coated chain link?

Galvanized is raw zinc-coated steel — industrial look, lasts 15–25 years. Vinyl-coated has a PVC sleeve over the wire — more residential appearance, also better near the coast (salt doesn't reach the steel). Vinyl-coated costs 15–25% more and lasts longer in coastal zones.

Do chain link fences meet pool barrier code?

Chain link can meet pool barrier code if the mesh size is small enough (1.75-inch maximum openings for climbable fences) and the fence is at least 60 inches tall with a code-compliant gate. We often recommend vinyl-coated or slat-insert chain link for pool applications.

Can you add privacy slats to chain link?

Yes. Vertical slat inserts weave through the mesh to create approximately 75% privacy. Aluminum slats last longest; PVC is cheaper. Adds about $4–$8/linear foot to the install cost.

Homeowners who hired us for this

Got three quotes for a new cedar fence. Fence Pros was the only company that actually walked the whole line, pulled the HOA spec, and showed me a stain sample before quoting. Clean crew, clean jobsite, beautiful finish.

Melissa R. Cedar Privacy Fence Install · Carlsbad

Our 12-year-old fence was leaning bad and I thought we needed a full replacement. They installed steel post inserts on six posts, saved the panels, and the fence looks great for another decade. Saved me thousands.

David K. Fence Post Repair · El Cajon

Needed a code-compliant pool fence before our home sale. They came out same-week, quoted honestly, and installed glass panel fencing that passed inspection on the first try. Handled everything — measurement, hardware, final walk-through.
